摘要

In 1998 the first nematode resistant sugar beet variety was registered in Germany. Since then another means for biological control of nematodes is available besides the cultivation of resistant catch crops. In the present field trials the new variety reduced nematodes by up to 80%. It was not resistant to rhizomania. Because of the lower yield when attack is absent, the susceptibility to leaf diseases, and the difficulties with beet harvesters the variety should only be cultivated above a thresholdof 800-1000 eggs/larvae per 100 ml soil. Additionally there should be a change in the crop rotation between resistant and susceptible varieties in combination with resistant catch crops to avoid the development of resistance breaking pathotypes.
