It was another scorching summer and almost time for another four-week vacation to the West Coast to do some prospecting and dredging in the cool, mountain rivers to find some gold. My friend, Mark, was interested in coming along since he was in between jobs and curious about mining. I had my four-inch dredge strapped to the top of my pickup camper and all my other gear tightly packed into the six-foot bed, including my three-inch highbanker/dredge combo, when I pulled up in front of Mark's house in Ft. Worth, Texas. Just like the airlines, I had already warned him about a two-bag limit.
