摘要

Anthracnose diseases are caused by a variety of fungi but the most commonly found are Colletotrichum, Gloeosporium and their perfect (sexual state) state Glomerella. These fungi are closely related and form their spores in an open cup-like structure called an acervulus or perithecium (Glomerella). They primarily cause leaf spots and blight symptoms, but also can cause stem rot and fruit rot on some crops. These diseases spread by spores that are easy to splash with irrigation water or rainfall, but since they are somewhat sticky, they do not easily spread by simple air movement. Wounding can increase disease severity.
