摘要

There are strong competitive pressures on limestone mines and plants to improve productivity, reduce unit costs and achieve increased returns from capital allocation. Attaining best practice requires that sustainability be integrated into all aspects of an enterprise and is achieved through effective governance and management systems. Futhermore, best practice operations demonstrate key strengths in mineral resource management, organisational effectiveness, skills, culture, health and safety, technological/innovation capability and risk management. Mineral resource management is an integrated activity which identifies, evaluates and provides an optimum extraction plan of the limestone resource, to produce a quality product that satisfies the downstream user. Creating organisational effectiveness requires the right organisational structure supported by appropriate management systems, including involvement, inspiration, understanding, open communication, ownership, accountability and balance. For this, management needs to seek out best practice, foster continuous learning/ training and sharing knowledge for the well being of employees and the success of the operation.
