The silos original configuration included a flat floor and the silo was built with a central diametric rotating screw extraction system. This delivered product to a central cement pump in the reclaim pit underneath the silo. After 4Mt was reclaimed from the silo, the system passed its use-by date and was failing to cope with demand. Maintenance was becoming increasingly difficult.
