BBMG Corp., a building materials manufacturer under the aegis of Beijing Building Materials Group (BBMG), is to pay a total of RMB506.7m (74m US dollars) to acquire controlling stakes in three Beijing firms from Lafarge China Overseas Holding Co Ltd. Lafarge Group is withdrawing from the Beijing cement market but will continue its expansion in southwest China's growing cement markets. The purchase consists of a 65% stake, a 70% stake and a 76.7% stake. The primary assets of the firms are a concrete plant in Southeast Beijing and two cement plants in Northeast Beijing. The concrete plant has an annual output of 300,000m~3 and the cement plants have an annual output of 1.5Mt. What is noteworthy is that Lafarge China Overseas Holding has promised not to compete with BBMG in the cement business in Beijing or Tianjin within the coming two years, in accordance with both parties' equity transfer agreement.
