Cement production and despatches continued to increase in India through August. Cement production rose smartly by 17.75 percent in August at 15.5Mt as compared with August 2008, while despatches improved by 16.97 percent at 15.4 Mt, as per CMIE data. Among the large players, the Aditya Birla Group's cement production for August rose by 38.30 percent at 2.93Mt. Despatches went up by 32.15 percent at 2.89Mt over August 2008. ACC's production rose to 1.63Mt from 1.52Mt in August 2008. Armbuja Cement despatches were marginally up at 1.43Mt (1.44Mt in July) while production rose to 1.42Mt (1.44Mt).
