ASEC Cement of Egypt has begun production at Takamol in Sudan. The greenfield plant on the River Nile is approximately 320km north of the capital Khartoum. ASEC Cement aims to have 12Mt/yr cement capacity by 2013, with production in five countries, spreading from Algeria to Iraq. As part of its expansion, ASEC has begun production at its new Al-Takamol plant in Takamol, Sudan. The total cost of the project was 252.7 million US dollars.
