South Africa/Botswana/Zimbabwe: Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) has recorded a substantial decrease in cement volumes within most of the Southern African region owing to a slowdown in construction sector activity. Although demand for cement in Zimbabwe has increased, cement volumes in South Africa and Botswana were both down by 13%.This was attributed to the decline in the construction activity and lack of recovery in the residential sector in those countries.
