摘要

Mexico: Mexican cement maker Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua saw net earnings rise 53.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2007, totaling 25,9mn dollars, the company announced in a statement. Net sales rose 35.6 percent for the January to March 2007 period, including a 60.0 percent rise in the US and a 27.2 percent rise in domestic sales. The 60.0 percent rise in sales to the US market came from the integration of new operations there, as well as comparably higher cement prices, which offset expected declines in sales volumes, said GCC CEO Manuel Mila in a conference call. While further volume declines are foreseen in 2007 in the US market, they are expected to begin slightly increasing by year-end, coinciding with the completion of a new cement plant there in Pueblo, Colorado, said Mila.
