摘要

Many governments are committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions from energy consumption. For example following last year's lead set by Germany and several other countries, the United Kingdom announced that all new buildings must comply with its Building Regulation part L. This includes the requirement that the buildings use energy saving Low E coated glass. Low-E glass involves a special coating being applied to architectural flat glass to reflect heat away from the building in hot weather and to retain it within the building during cold weather. As a result, by using Low-E coated glass buildings can use smaller and less energy-intensive heating and cooling systems.
