It was a happy day of celebration when the ISO Central Secretariat received its certification to ISO 9001:2000, for though the operation bad involved a considerable investment of time and effort, after the event, in the general view, it had been "relatively painless" and at the same time, overwhelmingly rewarding. Partially, this was due to the previous experience with ISO 9002, where the foundations of an ISO 9000 consciousness had been laid; partially however, it was because the ISO 9000 culture was now part of the Central Secretariat's way of thinking. What did the migration involve and what had it brought the Central Secretariat? The ISO Bulletin takes a "bird's-eye" view of what the experience taught the Central Secretariat - and brought to its customers.
