摘要

Recently developments in computer-aided engineering (CAE) techniques in the field of metal castings have been achieved. One of the main benefits of this technique is to aid the process of costing design by simulating the solidification behavior and predicting the formation of casting defects. In the present study, numerical simulation was carried out to evaluate the mold filling and solidification sequences and to optimize the water cooling conditions in the cyclic permanent mold costing process. Experimental application of an automated water cooling system was also investigated with regard to the resultant solidification behavior and soundness of the castings.
