Few data have been published on the use of mudflats in Lake Okeechobee, Florida by shorebirds, larids, or other birds. In five airboat surveys along the northwestern shore ofthe lake during drought conditions in mid-2007, we observed 24species ofshorebirds and 11 species oflarids,witha maximum one-day total ofmore than 20,000 individuals. Among these observations were several that represented first reports forLake Okeechobee and/or Okeechobee County.
