St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets, Inc. is a family-owned combination food and pharmacy retailer that has served customers for the past 70 years. Schnucks was founded in 1939, in a corner confectionery operated by Anna and Edwin Schnuck. The company hasgrown to include 105 stores and 15,500 associates in seven states. Incorporated in 1953, brothers Donald and Edward Schnuck began to expand the company through acquisition as well as new construction. Over the years, the family developed a reputation for being innovators in the industry and for offering top quality perishables and high levels of customer service, leading to the tagline "The Friendliest Stores in Town."
