摘要

A new method of continuously gauging the flow in steep mountain torrents has been investigated. Seismic vibrations in the bedrock, resulting from the tumbling water flowing in a mountain stream, have been recorded from a site in north Wales and have been compared to direct current meter flow measurements over a wide range of flow conditions. A relationship has been established whereby the flow may be inferred from the seismic vibrations.
