Mutants for a variety of species have been created by a gamma radiation technique. Most of the new varieties have been well received and now being grown by commercial growers in Thailand. In the search for interesting new varieties, Thailand has launched the technique of radiation-induced mutation. The work at Kasetsart University and the Gamma Irradiation Service and Nuclear Technology Research Center at Kasetsart has generated a number of mutants of commercial value. However, even more important than the mutants themselves is the fact that this technique has been made available to Thai floriculture companies.
