Ike Ahmed could be described as one of Canada's wunderkinds. At just 35, he has accomplished as much as many do in a lifetime of practice, and he shows no signs of stopping. A glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment surgeon practising in Toronto, Ike's areas of subspe-cialty are the surgical management of glaucoma, the complex cataract, and the management of cataract and intraocular lens complications. He also plays a pretty good game of basketball. "It is probably fair enough to say that Ike Ahmed exploded onto the Canadian ophthalmological scene when he started practice six years ago," says Dr. Andy Crichton, clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of Calgary. "In the overall spectrum of colleagues, there are late adopters, early adopters, and innovators; Ike is truly an innovator. His surgical techniques and adaptations have rapidly made him a world leader."
