Denbury owns the largest reserves of CO_2 used for tertiary oil recovery east of the Mississippi River and has been focusing on depleted oil fields in the US Gulf Coast region. From a business model Denbury can claim to be something of a trend-setter, as it requires a substantial commitment of capital and human resources to take on a leadership role in managing CO_2 This paper is intended to demonstrate that CO_2 management requires more than bricks and mortar, or pipelines and wells, as the case may be. The study of the Delhi Field project may be the foundation for the future of CCS in that it demonstrates the potential to monitor and manage CO_2 in the subsurface.
