It was a bad week for yours truly, the middle week in March. I was dressing out some big Douglas fir early on Friday afternoon, and for some reason I'd put my phone in my top pocket - not a good idea. I was once leaning over a Clark transmission witha phone in the same pocket. The phone ended up in the gearbox which had a little bit of oil in the bottom. There were obviously enough metal particles in the oil to kill the phone's circuits.I noticed the phone leaving the offending pocket on that occasion, but this time I only noticed the phone was missing when I went to order some diesel... No phone, no diesel!It's incredible how hard it is to retrace your steps when you've been felling, and how hard it is to find an iPhone in the brash from half a dozen big Douglas firs. It's also a subsection of Murphy's law that you never lose a phone in an area with good network coverage, so ringing it doesn't work. The likelihood was that I'd already been over it with the loaded forwarder anyway.To cut a long story short, I had to upgrade early to get a new phone. It was cheaper than claiming on the insurance. 75 pound excess doesn't seem fair unless the phone's pretty new.
