摘要

The first three of these treatments were replicated in two blocks to minimise any effects of site variation. All treatments were carried out in 2004 by UPM Tilhill using a Silvatec 82665TH Sleipner harvester and Timberjack 81 OB forwarder. The fellingand extraction outputs were recorded to identify differences in harvesting and forwarding outputs and unit costs between the different treatments. Brash mat production, crop and ground disturbance were also recorded and compared as part of the investigation. Ground conditions at Coed Trallwm range from average to poor with intermediate roughness and slopes ranging from 0% to 33% (based on Forestry Commission Terrain Classification categories). Soils are generally upland brown earths and intergrade brown earths of varying depths with gleyed areas in wetter parts including variable depths of peat.
