It may be hard to believe, as the bitter mid-winter cold has made itself well and truly comfortable, but in school hallways, and Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, prom prate has already begun. The pressure is on. (Perhaps it's not that surprising. It seems that Valentine's Day is pushed upon us at Thanksgiving...) And for teens, prom is becoming more over the top every year!In preparation for this emotional rite of passage, we florists need to grab our snippers, galvanize the troops (assistant designers to help complete the many pieces before each dance), and try our best to remember what it was like to be a teenager. We must dig deep into our recollections of the turbulent time of adolescence, when we alternated between excitement and nervousness, and summon our utmost patience when dealing with our youthful clients and their parents. Put yourself in the sneakers of these kids, in their braces and their skinny jeans, and their anticipation of the BIG day.
