Based on additional information sent to FERC last month by Northern Natural Gas Co. (CP10-82), the MOPS Shippers - Anglo Suisse Texas Offshore Partners, LLC, Apache Corp., Chevron U.S.A. Inc., EOG Resources, Inc., Medco Energi US LLC, and Pisces Energy LLC - contended there is evidence that the Matagorda Offshore Pipeline System (MOPS) and the services offered are not in as bad shape as originally reported by Northern. On 3/5/10 Northern filed a joint application on behalf of itself and the other co-owners requesting approval to abandon in-place certain offshore facilities along with onshore facilities located in Texas. Northern cited higher costs, the lack of significant flow on the system, the risk of continued operation of a system at volumes well below facility design and the projected future decrease in volumes on the system.
