Analysis by GC and GC/MS of the essential oil obtained from aerial parts and fruits of P. verticillare (collected near Urbino, Italy) revealed 32 components. The major constituents were sabinene and (E)-anethole in the leaf and branch oil, sabinenein the fresh fruit oil and beta-caryophyllene, alpha-phellandrene, (Z)-beta-farnesene and beta-bisabolene in the dried fruit oil.
