People in the Near and Middle East have rediscovered the pomegranate. Being a symbol for the Syrian goddess Atargatis, it has been planted in the Mediterranean and the Middle East for centuries. The special feature of the pomegranate is the extremelyhigh content of bio-active contents as well as Calcium and Vitamin C. However, the importance of the fruit was limited in the last few decades to the fruit itself and perhaps tothejuice, which was offered in combination with bananas and other fruit as afruit cocktail throughout the Middle East. Most important stumbling blocks were the deep-red seeds, which in fact limited joy and indulgence.
