Chewing gum is one of the fastest-growing product groups on the confectionery market. This is hardly surprising, since chewing is relaxing and also improves concentration. There used to be concerns about the damage chewing gum could do to the teeth,but these worries have long been dispelled now that there are products containing sodium bicarbonate to make the teeth whiter or fluoride, calcium and zinc as an additional mineral source. And, of course, dental chewing gums are generally made with sugarsubstitutes that do not attack the teeth like sugar does.
