Predictive control theory has been a research area of large attraction in the last 15 years. Many different algorithms have been proposed and their tracking and stability properties are investigated, The book focuses on a survey of these methods and will help to give the reader a precise understanding of the different predictive controllers.; This book first provides a deep understanding of the different predictive controllers and second gives numerical reliable algorithms for the use in computer-based digital controllers.; All discussed predictive control methods are model-based. Thus the identification and modeling step becomes a central role for predictive control design. This will be reflected by a detailed discussion of the recent advances in closed-loop identification. -The predictive control methods are discussed using a mathematical formalism, Practitioners who are more interested in implementation aspects can pass these mathematical parts and should be able to follow the ideas by means of the numerous comments, remarks and examples; Each chapter gives a survey of fundamental papers and further recommended literature Of course only a selection is made without the claim of completion.
