Robust Nonlinear Control Design with Proportional-Integral-Observer Technique

This thesis concentrates on disturbance observer technique and robust nonlinear control. At first, the design of one kind of high gain disturbance observers, the Proportional-Integral-Observer (Pi-Observer), is improved by automatically choosing the high observer gains to fit the current situation. The high-gain Pi-Observer design is systematically discussed and the online adjustment of the Pi-Observer gains is detailed, by which an advanced Pi-Observer (API-Observer) is proposed. Secondly, the combination of the high gain Pi-Observer and the exact feedback linearization approach, named as EFL-PIO method, is applied in robust nonlinear control of nonlinear systems with unknown effects. The applicability of the EFL-PIO method on mechanical systems is surveyed. Simulation and experimental examples are given to illustrate the implementation respectively for the two points mentioned above.
