摘要

Information literacy is a key skill today. For those who lack the necessary information skills the sheer variety of IT and information sources and formats can be bewildering and cause considerable stress. Information literacy has been described by theAmerican Library Association (2004) as "a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate evaluate and effectively use the needed information." Information literacy skills are seen as openingthe door to all information across all disciplines. It helps those who possess the skills to arrive at a judgement on when information is required to locate, evaluate, organize, and effectively create, use, and communicate it. Information literacy is seen as a way of nurturing and sustaining lifelong learning.
