This family sawmill is the test pilot for the first Comact OLI-CS3 log optimizer and positioner in the hopes of netting the best of DLI accuracy and SLI efficiency. F.H. Stoltze Land & Lumber Co., along with their consulting engineer Larry Jellison, threw caution to the wind when it came time to replace the sawmill's ageing canter/twin band log infeed. The independent sawmill is based near Columbia Falls in beautiful rural Montana, but for the past few months it has been at the centre of the action as it installed and started the first of a new breed of hybrid log rotators and positioners from Comact, It may be a long way from northern Montana to southern Quebec, but the mill was looking for a unique solution to its common problem - the need to fitmore accurate log optimization and positioning in a limited space.
