摘要

The net effect breeds confusion and undermines confidence in supplements among consumers. It also presents what the supplement industry believes is an ill-defined picture of itself and its products. In 2007, the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), a leading trade association for the dietary supplement industry known for its science-based approach to supplement usage, embarked on a three-year initiative at the request of its board of directors. Its task was to help redefine the industry to more accurately reflect that dietary supplements play an important role in a growing culture of wellness and that consumers would be well-served to consider these products as one of the smart choices they make in their quest for wellness. Partnering with CRT/tanaka, a New York and Richmond, Va., dual-headquartered marketing/public relations firm, CRN developed the consumer education campaign "Life. ..supplemented" to promote the responsible use of dietary supplements.
