摘要

Superplastic forming of duplex stainless steel when attempted at 950 deg C showed strong evidence of sigma phase formation. This was accompanied by cavitation. The cavity density was maximum at the most deformed region, namely the apex of the formed cone, and pressures as high as 1.7 MPa had to be maintained during the superplastic forming operation.
