Large-diameter linepipe demand in North America remains upheld bymultiple projects taking place, mainly in natural gas infrastructure building.The number of natural gas projects this year may set a record for distance,but there are concerns among market participants that planned oilinfrastructure projects will be shelved until oil prices rebound. Moreover,there has yet to be any negligible linepipe price support as competitionfor projects from global suppliers as well as falling raw materials costsare undermining prices. Indeed, capacity utilization in Europe and Asia,especially, is low and producers with North American assets are understoodto be offering pipe from their overseas mills as their domestic facilities havelonger lead times.
