Lead has fallen back sharply in November, with official three-month prices dropping from above 3,700 dollars/tonne at the start of the month to a low of 2,870 dollars/tonne on the 22nd of the month. The move accelerated dramatically as key support from July's peak at 3,475 dollars/tonne was broken. Speculative longs that had driven prices as high as 3,880 dollars/tonne in October, took this failure as confirmation that the highs have now been seen. Liquidation of their positions provided most of the momentum for the sell-off. Lead prices are no doubt reacting at least in part to easing concerns about mine production and to signs that Chinese exports are recovering.
