摘要

Western World output in March climbed to an average daily output rate of 47,504 tpd - the highest level since January 2001. Output in March was marginally higher in month-on-month terms compared to February 's output rate of 47,479 tpd. However, it was 1.2 percent higher in year-on-year terms, and was also the second straight month of year-on-year gains, following thirteen consecutive months of decline. Output rates in February and March have been driven by a surge in output in the USA as production in the Pacific Northwest has been restarted. US average daily production stood at 7,111 tpd in March - the highest output rate in the region since June 2001, although in year-on-year terms it does still remain 5 percent lower than the equivalent month of 2000. However, US output in March was 7.6 percent higher than the output rate at the end of last year. This month's supply analysis has once again been dominated by events related to the US Pacific Northwest smelter restarts.
