Recently, we have read an article of Jenna Tsai et al that studied the relation between the usual source of care and the quality of the medical care experience.1 As a member of the healthcare system of Taiwan, we felt that this article had several major problems that need to be clarified. The first is their database. The authors claimed that "Because doctors in Taiwan primarily practice in hospital setting, community-based doctors were not included." This is totally against the truth. According to the official data, by the end of 2010, the number of western-style doctors (ie, Chinese medicine practitioners were excluded) practicing in the hospital setting was 24469, versus 14380 who practiced in clinics, approximately 63% to 37%.
