Understanding the complexity of learners' responses to feedback is fraught with confusion. How should educators approach feedback encounters, planned or unplanned? How can they judge their impact? Is the feedback of the 'right type'? Is it given at the right time? Is it appropriate for the intended outcome of that activity? Does it generate the right change in the learner?
