摘要

Swertia speciosa Wall. (Gentianaceae) is used in traditional system of medicine (TSM). Mature plants were collected from Gulaba (2743m amsl) at flowering stage, air dried and crushed to make extracts. The extracts were analyzed for the presence of bioactive compounds e.g. mangiferin, amaroswerin and amarogentin using HPLC. Bitter secoiridoid glucosides (amaroswerin) and a xanthone-C-Glucoside (mangiferin) was detected, whereas amarogentin was completely absent in collected samples of S. speciosa.
