摘要

The paper presents data on the prevalence of E. multilocularis in main definite hosts, red foxes, in Poland. Studies done in recent years in Poland have shown an increase in prevalence of the tapeworm in red foxes in the north, northeast and southeast of Poland. Cases of E. multilocularis infection in racoon dogs in the north and north-east of Poland together with its strong increase in the fox population during last few years create a high potential risk for the infection in dogs. Consequently, the threat of infection for the human risk group has grown (foresters, hunters, collectors of berries and mushrooms etc.).
