摘要

This paper presents differences in the microstructure and microhardness properties of conventional casting (ingot) and rapidly solidified Al_(64)Cu_(20)Fe_(12)Si_4 quasicrystal (QC) alloys. The phases present in the Al_(64)Cu_(20)Fe_(12)Si_4 ingot alloy were determined to be icosahedral quasicrystalline (IQC) ?-Al_(65)Cu_(20)Fe_(15), cubic ?-AlFe, tetragonal è-Al_2Cu, and monoclinic ?-A_(13)Fe_4 phases, whereas only IQC ?-Al_(65)Cu_(20)Fe_(15) and cubic P-AlFe phases were identified in the rapidly solidified alloy. The microhardness value of the melt spun alloy was measured to be approximately 790 kg/mm~2. Microhardness increases with increasing solidification rates.
