Semi-finished steel manufacturers produce the building blocks that are the basis of the engineering industry. These products in the form of strip, wire, rod and tube are usually treated with a controlled atmosphere during their manufacture to improve their formability into finished products while maintaining a high quality surface. M. S. Stanescu and P. F. Stratton outline the advantages of modifying atmosphere timing and flow rate to optimise the benefits of hydrogen.
