摘要

For a metalworking supplier that makes some of the hardest metals now in use in industrial applications, there's nothing solid about the future. The Marinette, Wisconsin, USA-based Winsert, Inc is a leading supplier of valve seat inserts for large diesel engine applications and had 2001 sales of approximately 15M US dollars.Gary Strong, Vice President of Applied Metallurgy for Winsert, Inc says: "We cast and machine valve seat inserts, primarily for diesel engine OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). We must stay abreast of customers' ever-changing need for new materials or we will be left by the wayside as competitors design and develop alloys that better meet new criteria for mechanical properties and performance characteristics. We are all learning to live with change, as well as adapt to the increasing pace of change and a sense of urgency about staying out-front technologically. The recent awarding of a patent of our W210 alloy is a case in point."
