Following the successful commissioning of TTC's tilting rotary furnace in Russia, at Samara, the British company has now sold a complete plant in Latvia, with a tilting rotary furnace at its heart. These types of unit have proven effective as stand alone scrap melters and dross processors, but the Latvian smelter incorporates two holding furnaces, a split launder and casting machine alongside the tilting rotary furnace which replaces two dry hearth melters. A comprehensive DISA filtration plant controls particulate and gaseous emissions.The plant will meet the requirement for operating flexibility and high metal recovery rates, in a space saving arrangement TTC is responding to demands from small and medium sized secondary producers who need to generate added value products while casting smaller quantities but in a wider variety of customised alloys achieving 2-5 percent higher metal recoveries than the generally attainable 85 percent.
