Application of an integrated supply programme delivered by a tooling specialist is helping a major automotive component manufacturer to drive down manufacturing costs.With technology, workforce and customers in place, a lot of companies might start to feel a bit complacent. Not GWK Group; this tier 1 automotive supplier makes critical automotive components (engine, suspension, steering, chassis parts) for OEMs including Jaguar, Ford, BMW and Land Rover. The two factories, Geo W King in Letchworth and King Automotive Systems in Coventry, generate a pound 100 million turnover; both are dedicated to continuous improvement, working closely with customers and suppliers. All this is supported by a 700-strong workforce, and a 'who's who' inventory of machine tools loading where appropriate. There's no specific loyalty - it's about what gets the job done.
