In May 2001 Voest-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau (VAT) and Jinan Iron & Steel signed a contract for the supply of a 1-strand continuous slab casting plant. The order value amounts to approx. 14.5 million EUR.The slab casting plant will produce slabs with thicknesses from 200 to 270 mm and widths ranging from 1200 to 2100 mm at an annual output of up to 1250000 t with a product mix ranging from plate to high quality carbon grades. The cast slabs will be directly charged to the new hot strip mill.
