Citizen Machinery Miyano Co., Ltd. reported that its plant complex at Yabuki, in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture., resumed full operations April 20, while offices are still being repaired. The Miyano facilities were among the most severely damaged in north Honshu by the Great East Japan Earthquake March 11. For the most part, the rest of Japan's machine-tool industry, second-largest in the world after China's, was spared direct damage by the temblor and ensuing tsunami. The bulk of its plants are located at some distance from the epicenter, so few others saw destruction at their own sites.
