Cuffing fluid lubricates, Cools and washes away the swarf, says the Conventional wisdom; but nowadays fluid management covers environmental, health, product quality and waste disposal issues. The potential for savings through metalworking fluid management is now well established, and suppliers are responding to this. Rhenus Lub, for example provides packages ranging from the smallest control measurements sometimes prescribed by legislation - to strategic consultation, including a comprehensive cost plan and roadmap. The starting point is always an analysis of the specific situation; measures are adapted to individual user requirements: the aim is optimisation of production processes while seeking cost savings. Programmes offered link all elements of the production process, including metal-cutting and process media. With the same aim in mind Leeds-based lubricants manufacturer Rocol launched its TRI -Logic system last year; addressing the need for cost, health, safety and environmental improvements. The system has three elements: maximum life' cutting fluids; a machine slideway lubricant which extends cutting fluid life; and a tapping fluid that fortifies cutting fluid.
