We had suggested in last month’s tracker that scrap suppliersto the European market may have extended a higher discountfor the first time in one year, in order to support shipments;something that suggested that scrap market tightness may havepeaked in the current season. This widening in our estimate ofthe discounts on the price of constituent primary raw materials(mainly nickel) contained in stainless scrap has continuedthrough into November (see chart).
