Southern Comfort will end this year with its entire marketing budget spent on the internet. Last year, the drinks giant spent $7 million on traditional advertising, before deciding to devote its efforts to on-line adverts aimed squarely at 21 to 29-year olds -the sort of people who now spend far more time online than reading magazines or watching TV. The ads, which connect the drink with its New Orleans heritage, are running on Southern Comfort's own Facebook page and also on heavy-hitting US websites such as CBS.com, Fox.com, Playboy.com and NBC.com.
