摘要

Legionnaires' disease (LD) is a type of pneumonia caused by inhalation of Legionella spp. in aerosolized water particles. Legionella pneumophila accounts for 90% of cases, and L. boze-manii is one of the other most frequent species involved. Forty to 50% of patients with Legionella infection present at least one neurological symptom, regardless of pulmonary involvement [1-3]. Confusion is present in 30% of the cases. The pathogen-esis of central nervous system (CNS) involvement is unknown and Legionella has never been isolated in the CNS, either by culture or PCR. We report a case of PCR-confirmed CNS infection by L. non-pneumophila in an immunocompetent adult. CNS disorders in the course of Legionella spp. infection will be briefly discussed.
